Frequently Asked Questions
Are your thangkas painted by hand?
Yes. Each painting is created by hand using natural mineral pigments. These are original painted works, not printed reproductions. Small differences in brushwork and detail make each piece individual.
Will I receive the exact artwork shown?
Our miniature Gau thangkas are made to order. The photographs show reference works for your commission, rather than a finished piece ready for dispatch.
Before painting begins, we confirm the subject and agreed details with you. Your finished work will follow those details, with the natural variations of a hand-painted piece.
What are the size and materials?
Our miniature Gau pendants measure 4 × 5 cm (approximately 1.57 × 1.97 inches), including the case. This is the overall pendant size, not the painting size alone.
The painting is housed in a pure copper case with 24K gold plating. Please contact us before ordering to confirm which cord, chain or other wearing accessories are included with your chosen design.
How do I place an order?
Choose your preferred design and complete your purchase through our website. Each miniature Gau commission is priced at US$2,500, payable in full when ordering.
We will confirm your requirements before painting begins. Traditional hanging thangkas are quoted separately; please contact us to discuss the subject and size you have in mind.
How long will my order take?
Painting takes 15 calendar days after your requirements have been confirmed. Work begins no earlier than 24 hours after you place your order.
Please allow additional time for dispatch preparation and delivery. The painting period is not a delivery estimate.
Can you help me choose a thangka?
Yes. If you are unsure which design to choose, email us or contact us on WhatsApp. Tell us which subjects interest you and whether the piece is intended for yourself or as a gift.
Descriptions of Buddhist figures and motifs explain their traditional meanings and aspirations. They do not promise particular financial, health or spiritual results.
Where do you deliver?
We ship from China using tracked, fully insured DHL delivery. Complimentary shipping is available to eligible destinations worldwide.
We cannot deliver to PO boxes or remote areas. Please contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether your delivery address is eligible.
Can I cancel or return a commissioned piece?
You may cancel within 24 hours of placing your order for a full refund. Please email us promptly and include your order number.
Once painting has begun, we do not accept cancellations or returns simply because you have changed your mind. Your applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
What happens if my parcel is lost or damaged?
If your shipment is lost, contact us with your order number. We take responsibility for investigating and resolving the loss.
If your artwork arrives damaged, please retain the packaging and send us photographs of the artwork, parcel and packing materials. We will review the damage with you. Severe transit damage that cannot be repaired qualifies for a full refund.
How should I care for my thangka?
Keep the painting protected from moisture, prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat and rubbing. Avoid touching the painted surface or applying water or cleaning products to it.
For a pendant, avoid exposure to perfume and other chemicals, and remove it before bathing or swimming. If you notice damage to the painting or case, contact us before attempting a repair.
