Thank Origin connects collectors with the living tradition of hand-painted thangka art. We work directly with collaborating monastic artists and their studios, creating a clear connection between each artwork, the hands that paint it and the materials from which it is made.
Why We Began
We met artists who had devoted years to painting and practice, yet had few opportunities to introduce their work to collectors overseas. Thank Origin grew from a wish to share their art with care, and to distinguish hand-painted commissions from printed reproductions and mass-produced decoration.
Art with a Traceable Beginning
We value the artist’s experience, the discipline of traditional composition and the patient work of drawing and applying colour. Our commissions use natural mineral pigments and are painted by hand. We share artist portraits, studio scenes and process imagery so collectors can understand the work beyond its finished surface.
Made through Conversation
From miniature Gau pendants to traditional thangka commissions, we discuss the subject, format and details with you and our collaborating artists. Each work is created to order, with respect for the time and attention that hand painting requires.
